The fuel injection device has an injection nozzle (12), a primary pressure amplifier (16), an arrangement of valves (18, 20) for operating the amplifier and an actuator (22) operating the valves. The valves are both 2/2 valves. The two valves may be operated by the actuator via a common hydraulic coupling cavity.
