A gauge (1) for measuring the dimensions of a protrusion or recess on a reference surface comprises a probe part (7) attached to a base (2) coupled with a dial gauge (5). Bullet-shaped, columnar, triangular prism or quadrangular prism leg parts (3, 4) are brought into point, line or face contact with an object (H) to be measured. Dimensions such as the depth, height and inside/outside diameters of a part (j) to be measured of the object (H) having an arbitrary curved surface, e.g. a columnar or tubular member, can be measured quickly at the site through a simple operation. The efficiency of measuring work is enhanced drastically. A versatile, convenient and economical gauge can be provided because a plurality of dimensions of the object (H) can be measured using a single gauge without dismantling the object (H) into parts.
