The invention relates to an injection system for an internal combustion engine, comprising an electronically controlled fuel pump (10), for each cylinder of the internal combustion engine to be supplied, an injection nozzle (12) provided with a jet needle (34) and a connection line (14) between the fuel pump and the injection nozzle. The aim of the invention is to have a freely selectable injection process. Said aim is achieved whereby the injection nozzle has an electronically controlled valve (48, 50; 50, 52), which can control the opening of the jet needle (34).
