The invention relates to a method for operating a mobile communication system, which comprises at least one base station and a mobile station, whereby said mobile station has a GPS function, in order to determine the actual position of the mobile station. After successful establishment of a link, with a base station, the mobile station transmits the determined actual position to the base station. The base station directs the antenna beam thereof, at the mobile station, by means of the positional information.
