The bottle opener for removal of a crown cork (12) from a bottle comprises a support which rests on the bottle neck (11), together with a grip component movable in relation to the support. The grip component has an engagement surface which by movement of the grip component engages against the under edge (13) of the crown cork for its removal from the bottle. The grip component comprises a single lever, which is hingeable in relation to the support. The engagement surface is located at one end of the lever and the other end (9) is manually operable for the hinge operation of the lever. The engagement surface is hook-shaped, enabling it to be hooked under the rear of the crown cork.
