An extrudate sizing die has cooling means and comprises a base-plate 1 and a frame 6, the extrudate 3 being passed therebetween in contact with the base-plate, and sizing members 4, 5, the members being position-adjustablymounted on the base-plate 1 and frame 6 respectively. As shown the sizing members 4, 5 are rectangularly cross-sectioned bars, but may be plates, tubes or rods of triangular, rectangular, or arcuate cross-section. The members may be mounted on the base plate or the frame only. Cooling is effected by independent circulation of liquid in bores 2 and in bores provided in bars 4, 5. To distribute the weight of frame 6 and bars 5 evenly over the extrudate, plates 7 are attached to these bars, see also Fig. 1 (not reproduced). |
