<p>A rocket powered gun launched munition that employs a sliding aft end closure (32) that forms the rocket propellant (34) into a force transmission column to transmit acceleration force onto the munition through the propellant rather than through the case of the rocket motor. This permits use of a thinner rocket motor case sidewall, provides more propellant and extends the operative range of the rocket motor. In other embodiments, portions of the munition case can be omitted which reduces weight, and expands the explosive charge cavity.</p> |
