The washer dryer has a heat exchanger in a process air circuit, a condensate collector beneath the heat exchanger and a cleaning device for removing fluff from the heat exchanger surface. The cleaning device is a sprayer to which spray water is fed in one or more spray cycles after one or more drying processes. The water is distributed to part or all of the heat exchanger surface and collected with the fluff by a condensate collection device. The washer dryer has a heat exchanger (WT) in the process air circuit, a condensate collector beneath the heat exchanger and a cleaning device for removing the fluff adhering to the surface of the heat exchanger, whereby the condensed water dropping from the heat exchanger and the fluff removed are collected by a collection plate of a condensate collector removable from the front of the machine housing.
