<p>A eukaryotic cell expressing formylase and a system for the expression of formylase in a eukaryotic cell are provided. Expression of formylase confers a detectable phenotype on the cells, e.g., a change in growth rate, so that inhibitors of formylase can be identified through assessment of changes in the detectable phenotype. The invention provides methods and systems (e.g., screens) for identifiying inhibitors of formylase. Such inhibitors are useful as antibacterial agents.</p> |
