PURPOSE: An OSD data transferring and processing method is provided to perform a normal OSD operation even when being used in a DVD player and a digital TV without an MPEG decoder by adding identification information identifying the type of transfer data and sorting the data stream in accordance with the identification information to perform decoding and signal processing for the sorted data stream. CONSTITUTION: In a first step, self data are generated apart from data stream provided from a record medium or externally. In a second step, identification information representing the types of the generated data is generated. In a third step, the generated data are structured into a transfer packet format of the provided data stream, and the generated identification information is added to a data area of the transfer packet to be transferred.
