A rectangular hollow rod of carbon-fibre reinforced plastics with elasticity 230000 N/mm<2> using resin hardening at 120 deg C has outside dimensions of 46 x 24 mm, with tapered ends for drivable bonding. The first layer of fibres is 1 mm thick, the second 0.5 mm and wound at 45 deg as against the third layer which is 3 mm. The fourth outermost layer is 0.5 mm in thickness. Fibre volume amounts to 1.542 g/cm<2>, giving a rod and core weight of 1287 g.
