PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that when the leading end of a paper sheet passes an opening part of a sheet transport path at the time of transporting the paper sheet, the leading end of the paper sheet enters the opening part of the sheet transport path to cause a sheet jam. SOLUTION: This transport apparatus is provided with a cutter 5 formed by a fixed blade 2 and a moving blade 3 rotated and moved along the fixed blade by the movement of a round blade bed 4. A movable cutter 6 is provided on a moving locus of the movable blade at the opening part 11 of the sheet transport path for the paper sheet 1, a sheet guide 8 and a sheet guide 9 for guiding the paper sheet are provided on the sheet transport direction 1a side, a thermal head 12 and a platen 13 are provided on the opposite side to the sheet transport direction, a sheet guide 10 for guiding the paper sheet 1 between the thermal head 12 and the round blade bed 4 is mounted not to interfere with the moving locus of the round blade bed 4, and a cutter shutter is disposed to turn to a cutter shutter position 6a on a shaft 7. The leading end of the paper sheet is guided by the cutter shutter, smoothly passed between the sheet guides, and transported in the transport direction to prevent a sheet jam in transporting the paper sheet.
