PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer, a host unit, a print system, a control method therefor and an information recording medium suitable for executing reset operation depending on the various logical settings of a reset signal transmitted to the printer. SOLUTION: The printer 111 connected with the host unit comprises a command data receiving section 112 for receiving command data from the host unit, a print section 113 for printing a relevant character if received command data is a print command designating a character, a signal line connecting section 114 connected with a signal line 194 which is connected with the host unit and applied with any one of first or second potential therefrom, a setting storing section 115 storing a nonvolatile setting for designating any one of first or second potential, and a reset section 116 for resetting the printer 111 if a potential applied to the signal line was designated by a setting stored in the setting storing section 115.
