PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a packaging container which is almost free from the non-uniformity of wall thickness or the mark of a plug by arranging so that a preheated synthetic resin sheet or film is stretched in an optimal state. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a packaging container is to manufacture a cuplike packaging container 30 of the synthetic resin sheet or film by pressing the plug 10 to a part, which becomes the bottom wall 31 of the packaging container 30, of the preheated synthetic resin sheet or film. The plug 10 to be used is formed of a low-foamed resin layer 12 integrally laminated on the surface of a metallic base 11, and the packaging container 30 is obtained by pressing the synthetic resin sheet or film with the help of the plug 10 while the temperature of the surface of the low-foamed resin layer 12 right before coming into contact with the synthetic resin sheet or film is set at 50 deg.C or higher.
