This device interchanges /- 2 colour layers extruded over a substrate, e.g. as colour coding on a strand, flexible tube or pipe. The typical use is to make an insulated wire. In this original arrangement, there is a main extruder with two or more c-extruders for the colours. These are held in an assembled extrusion head (1) having appropriate colour inlet (11,12) channels (13,15) and conical nozzle inserts (14,16) whose outlets supply colour around the substrate, itself applied around the conductor issuing from a central bore. A change over valve (19) switches over the colours.
