摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coupling structure of friction stir joining hollow material in which the hollow materials are subjected to friction stir joining with an ordinary structure without having a specific structure prepared for the friction stir joining. SOLUTION: The hollow materials are formed the a truss structure of sectional shape of a trapezoid in which the width of a front skin 15 is shorter than the width of a rear skin 16, both of front and rear skinks are tied with a vertical rib 12 of chevron shape to each other, the thickness of both of the front and rear skins is 2-3 mm, the thickness of an upper end flattening part 13 of the vertical rib of chevron shape is approximately twice as much or more as the thickness of the front skin and the width of the upper end flattening part of truncated chevron shape is equal to the diameter of the shoulder part of a joining tool main body or more. The outer side part of the flattening part forms an L shape step part 14 which has a height equal to the thickness of the front skin, the truss materials of the truss structure are abutted each other and the edge part of a coupling plate 17 is fitted between the L shape step parts of the abutted front skin of the hollow material. In such a state, a butt surface between the edge part of a coupling plate and a front skin of the hollow material is subjected to the friction stir joining and a butt surface of the rear skin of the abutted hollow material is subjected to the friction stir joining.
