PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cushion for receiving selectively variable temperature air which can withstand a user sitting, leaning or lying thereupon without significantly closing off the ready transfer of the variable temperature air throughout it. SOLUTION: This device includes: a plurality of individual hollow-center tubes 34 arranged in a single plane to form a pad with the longitudinal axes of the tubes being arranged in mutually parallel relation, the tubes having sidewalls constructed of synthetic plastic fibers 36 woven to maintain an open- weave construction with the fibers at fiber crossover points not sliding against one another; open-weave synthetic plastic fiber layers the fibers of which are open-weaved so as not to slide against one another, for securing the pad tubes in fixed predetermined spaced apart relation; an impermeable layer 14 enclosing the sides and the bottom of the pad of the tubes; and an air and vapor impermeable foam layer 19 covering the pad and connected to the sides of the impermeable layer.
