PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die casting machine which is capable of optimizing the timing for boosting of a plunger in a state that molten metal is packed into a die and suppressing the dispersion of the boosting times without detecting the pressure of the plunger and an injection control method. SOLUTION: This die casting machine has a position detecting section 22 which detects the position of the plunger 5, a plunger moving quantity setting section 23 which sets the plunger moving quantity Lc at which the plunger 5 is ought to move from a boosting start, a boosting start position calculating section 24 which calculates the boosting start position P2 from a packing completion position P3 at the packing completion of the plunger 5 and the plunger moving quantity Lc, a calculation section 25 for the time necessary for arrival which calculates the time T necessary for the plunger 5 in arriving at the boosting start position P2 from a speed changeover position P1 in accordance with the speed VH of the plunger 5 and a timer section 26 which outputs a start signal 26s to boost the plunger when the lapse time (t) after passing the speed changeover position P1 attains the time T necessary for the arrival.
