PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus which reduces generation of malodor from garbage itself. SOLUTION: Clean indoor air which contains almost no odorous component is sent into a garbage treatment apparatus through an air supply pipe 60 during treatment or after treatment, or throughout during and after treatment. An odorous substance generated during volume reducing treatment of the garbage and odor generated due to vapor pressure after the treatment are sent into an oxidative catalytic deodorizing device 56 so as to remarkably reduce the concentration of the odorous substances in the garbage treatment apparatus. Since catalyst temperature in the oxidative catalytic deodorizing device 56 is set high during treatment in which a large amount of water vapor is produced, deodorizing capacity is not lowered.
