PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder in which rewrite recording can be performed while holding the image erasing performance and saving power. SOLUTION: The image recorder comprising a roller 14 for erasing an existing image by heating a recording medium 1 which can record and erase an image repeatedly by varying thermal energy being applied, and a thermal head 15 for erasing an existing image or recording a new image through selective heating of pixel units is provided with a sensor 20 for detecting the environmental temperature. When the environmental temperature sensor 20 detects a temperature lower than a specified level, operation is controlled such that the erase roller 14 performs erasing operation of an existing image and the thermal head 15 performs recording operation of a new image. When the environmental temperature sensor 20 detects a temperature higher than the specified level, operation is controlled such that the thermal head 15 performs erasing operation of an existing image and recording operation of a new image, respectively. |
