PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of part items by using members in common, to enlarge a device, and to improve the conveyability of documents. SOLUTION: Documents mounted on a paper feeding tray 201 are separated and conveyed one by one, and both faces of the documents can be read in this document conveying device DF. A document read position section 409 is arranged below, and an inversion path P3 and an inversion conveying roller 420 for reading both faces of the documents are arranged above. A paper discharge path P2 and a paper discharge conveying roller 430 are arranged on the downstream side of the read position section 409, and a switching gate 401 for switching the path to the paper discharge path P2 or the inversion path P3 from the read position section 409 is provided. The driven side 420b of the inversion conveying roller 420 and the driving side 430a of the paper discharge conveying roller 430 are arranged on the same shaft 431.
