PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently suppress the emergence of shoots of citruses. SOLUTION: When a shoot inhibitor containing a water-soluble calcium compound or calcium ion is sprayed on leaves of citruses, or sprayed on or infused into the ground, the self topping of new treetops is accelerated to suppress the emergence of shoots. On the branches in which shoot growth is stopped by the self topping, leaves become large, axillary buds grow fat and solid, and floral differentiation of the cells proceeds, and thus the yield increase is expected by the bursting of flower buds and fruitage. The decrease of shoots leads to the increase of the number of fruitage, and the yield decrease in a bad harvest year is prevented.
