PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle improving an air- conditioning feeling of an occupant without any manual operation of an air blowing level by the occupant when a defroster mode is selected in a cold time just after a low-temperature starting of a engine, for example, in an automatic control type air conditioner. SOLUTION: When the defroster mode is selected just after starting at a low temperature, according to a warm-up pattern P1 of the defroster mode, a blower is stopped when a cooling water temperature is below a first set temperature T1, and cold air is prevented from being blown out. When the cooling water temperature rises and reaches the first set temperature T1, the blower is operated at a Lo level, and then, an air quantity level of the blower can be increased to a second set temperature T2 according to the rise of the cooling water temperature, and consequently, hot air can be blown out effectively.
