PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for transferring a beautiful image forming layer not having a transfer lack, an adhesive fault, a transfer fault or the like as a result without becoming non-uniform in an applied pressure at the time of transferring by a change of a thickness of a transfer and without partly transferring the layer on an intermediate transfer film even on a part not intended of the uppermost page of text pages of the side symmetrical at a backbone of a book as an axis. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus writes an image on an image forming layer of a transfer medium for retransferring and retransfers the image to a material to be transferred. In this case, a pressurizing member for pressurizing from an opposite side of the medium through the material of the member for constituting a heating and pressurizing means has an elevation means for changing an elevation amount corresponding to a height of a surface to be transferred of the material. Particularly, the member is arranged to operate the member so that the transfer surface of the material is bent.
