PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink-jet recording ink having a good hue and forming images having a good light-resistance, and to provide an image recording method. SOLUTION: The ink-jet recording ink comprises a compound represented by formula 1 (wherein Ar is an aryl group or a heterocyclic group; X, Y, and Z are each a group forming an unsaturated hetero 5-membered ring together with two carbon atoms and may have a substituent; R is NHRa or CH(Rb) (Rc), OH, CO2H, SO3H, a quaternary ammonium group, CO2M1/n or SO3M1/n; one of Rb and Rc is a substituent having a Hammett's substitutent constant σρof 0.3-1.5 and the other of Rb and Rc is hydrogen atom, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or a substitutent having a Hammett's substituent constant σρof 0.3-1.5), and the compound represented by formula 1 has at least one water-soluble group in the molecule. |
