PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for accurately detecting the joint of continuous small bags. SOLUTION: In the relative displacement process where continuous small bags 1 cross an optic axis P between light projecting and receiving parts 13, 14, when light from the projecting part 13 irradiates the joint 6 of the bags 1, the light goes through the bags and the light amount detected at the light receiving part 14 becomes more than a predetermined level of detection. However, because the light from the projecting part 13 is absorbed by a liquid body 4 having an OH base, when the light irradiation position is moved to the area storing a liquid body 4 from the joint 6 of the bags 1, the light amount detected at the light receiving part 14 becomes below the predetermined level of detection.
