PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing for an electrode wire for electric discharge machining particularly having tensile strength and straightness at the same time. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing is for an electrode wire for electric discharge machining that has a two-layer structure comprising a steel wire as the core and copper or a copper alloy thereabout and has a wire diameter of not more than 0.1 mm and a tensile strength of more than 200 kg/mm2. The method of manufacturing for such an electrode wire for electric discharge machining first runs the steel wire through staggered straightening rollers to improve the straightness thereof, and next heat-treats the conductive material about the core to recover the conductivity without reducing the strength of the core.
