PASTY AQUEOUS DISPERSION AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous dispersion capable of forming a coated film excellent in flame retardancy and flexibility, containing a large amount of a polyvalent metallic compound and excellent in preservation stability and coating properties. SOLUTION: This pasty aqueous dispersion excellent in dispersion stability comprises (A) an ethylene-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer, (B) a counter cation capable of neutralizing carboxyl group of the copolymer, (C) other polymer than (A) capable of being dispersed in water and (D) a polyvalent metal hydroxide as essential components and has the following relationships: (A)/(C) (weight ratio) is within the range of (9/1) to (2/8); (D) is in an amount within the range of 50-300 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the total of (A) and (C); and the whole solid concentration is within the range of 20-80 wt.%.
