The present invention relates to a device for identifying persons in a dactyloscopic manner. The inventive device comprises at least one light source for the illumination and/or transillumination of the front area of a finger, at least one sensor unit that is provided with at least one scanning unit on the side thereof that is allocated to the front area of the finger and serves for taking optical images of the front area pertaining to the finger. The inventive device also comprises at least one processing unit for detecting the characteristics of the front area of the finger, especially the fingerprint. The scanning unit is arranged in at least one scanning area. The front area of the finger has to be moved over said scanning area in a scanning direction. The scanning area is configured in a slit-shaped manner and is defined by two narrow sides and two long sides which extend crosswise, especially more or less vertically, in relation to the scanning direction and the narrow sides and are designed many times greater than the narrow sides. |
