PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fail-safe mechanism preventing possibility such that the filter element is damaged by the difference pressure caused by the clogging of a high pressure filter and the broken pieces of the filter element enter the safety valve in an oil pressure circuit to damage the circuit, in a high pressure filter used, for example, in the oil pressure circuit of a numerical value control type punch press machine. SOLUTION: A compression coil spring 5 is arranged between the top part of a filter element 4 and the inner wall surface of the top part of a filter case 2 to always bias the filter element 4 to bring the same into contact with the bottom surface of the case and a touch sensor 8 for detecting such a state that the filter element 4 rises against the spring 5 is provided to the center part of the top part of the filter case 2.
