Higher fatty acid amide derivatives of the general formula RCONR1R11 (wherein R represents an alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkenyl group of 13-23 carbon atoms, R1 represents H or an alkyl, alkenyl, phenyl or benzyl group, and R11 represents an alkyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl group; a substituted cycloalkyl group in which the substituent is OH or C1- 5 alkyl or alkoxy; a phenyl group; a substituted phenyl group in which the substituent is OH, C1- 5 alkyl or alkoxy, halogen or CF3; a benzyl group; a substituted benzyl group in which the substituent is nuclear OH or C1- 5 alkyl or alkoxy or a -C1- 5 alkyl; or an adamantyl group, or NR1R11 represents a heterocyclic amine residue) are stabilized by adding thereto at least one antioxidant selected from tocophenols and their fatty acid esters, o- or m-t-butyl-p-hydroxyanisole, protocatechuic acid esters, gallic acid esters, 3,5-di-t-butyl - 4 - hydroxytoluene, nordihydroguaiaretic acid, gum guaiac and thiodipropionic acid, with or without at least one synergist selected from glycine, alanine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, cysteine, methionine, phenylalanine, tyrosine or esters thereof; glycerinic acid, ascorbic acid, erythrobic, citric acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid hydroxypropionic acid, hydroxybutyric acid, tartaric acid, malic acid or esters thereof; succinic acid, malonic acid, glutaric acid, fumaric acid, maleic acid, aconitic acid or esters thereof; pentonic acid, hexonic acid, pyruvic acid or esters thereof; folic acid or esters thereof; vitamin B2, vitamin B6, glutathione; homocysteine thiolactone; cephalin; and hippuric acid or esters thereof.
