PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix ink surely to a sheet P regardless of the type of ink and sheet P being used and to obtain a high glass image. SOLUTION: An ink jet printer is provided with a fixing section 13 comprising a heating roller 25 for pressing ink composing an image against a sheet P on the circumferential surface thereof, a heater 25a for heating the ink and the sheet P through the heating roller 25 at the time of pressing, and rolls 27... for carrying the sheet P along the circumferential surface of the heating roller 25 while supporting it to touch or does not a part thereof. When the ink is hot pressed against the sheet P at the hot press region B by means of the heater 25a and the heating roller 25, the ink surface is flattened and gloss is imparted to an image.
