PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To consider an apparatus for longitudinally feeding seedling trays in a transplanter so that longitudinally feeding pins installed in each longitudinally feeding chain are well engaged with spaces between pot parts of the seedling trays when the apparatus for feeding the seedling trays from the upper side relatively to a carrying plate is changed into one for sliding the seedling trays in the tray longitudinally feeding direction relatively to the carrying plate and feeding the seedling trays. SOLUTION: This apparatus for longitudinally feeding the seedling trays is equipped with a carrying plate 72 for carrying and supporting the seedling trays, further provided with the longitudinally feeding pins 45 engaging with spaces between the pot parts P and equipped with the longitudinally feeding chains 44 movable in the tray longitudinally feeding direction A and thereby transferring the seedling trays along the carrying plate 72 in the tray longitudinally feeding direction A. The longitudinally feeding chains 44 are stretched over a pair of sprockets 42 and 43 in the tray longitudinally feeding direction A and provided with chain guides 52 on the front side in the tray longitudinally feeding direction A of the sprocket 43 on the rear side in the tray longitudinally feeding direction A and the longitudinally feeding chains 44 are passed through the lower side of the chain guides 52 and thereby composed so that the longitudinally feeding pins 24 engage with the spaces between the pot parts P when the longitudinally feeding chains 44 are moved from the undersurface side of the carrying plate 72 to the top surface side thereof as the longitudinally feeding chains 44 face the tray longitudinally feeding direction A.
