PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron that can vary the amount of mist according to the type of cloth or the state of wrinkles and has improved ease of use. SOLUTION: A steam passage 50 is provided with a valve body 61. The valve body 61 is moved by a valve body moving mechanism 60 and the opening area of the steam passage 50 is varied, thus varying the pressure of steam being emitted from a steam emission nozzle 56 and increasing or decreasing the amount of mist from a mist chamber 37. As a result, the amount of mist to be emitted from the mist chamber 37 to the cloth can be controlled according to the type of the cloth and the state of wrinkles, thus providing the iron with improved ease of use.
