PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metathesis co-catalyst capable of forming a metathesis catalyst system with a metathesis catalyst, exhibiting a rapid reaction rate and a good filling property to a metal mold in a bulk polymerization of a cycloolefin, especially norbornenebased monomer. SOLUTION: This metathesis co-catalyst is expressed by the following formulae (1) to (3) [wherein, R1 to R3 are each an alkyl; R4 is an alkyl or an aryl; Ar is an aryl; B is methylene or carbonyl; X is a halogen: and in formula (1), (a) to (d) are each a number satisfying a+b+c+d=3, 0.5<=a+b<=1.5, 0<=d<=1.5, (a/b)=(99/1)-(10/90)].
