PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus which can improve a printing speed while preventing a driver from being complicated in consequence of converting fonts when a plurality of font sets are utilized. SOLUTION: A glyph group is formed of font sets including 98 sets, 95 differences and 31 differences and stored in a font ROM 113. An index is set for each font set. An applicable glyph is specified by following the indices.
