PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for sealing a box-shaped container by heat- welding wherein the method is free from contamination of working environments and disposal problems, and to provide a box-shaped container manufactured using the method. SOLUTION: The method of sealing a lid 20 having a polyolefin resin based sealant layer 25 with a box body 10 with an upper part opened and having an opening 6 equipped with folds 11, 21, 31, 41 with upper ends folded inward by heat-welding comprises steps of providing, in advance, heat seal lacquer formation layers 13, 23, 33, 43, which are heat-weldable to the sealant layer 25 of the lid on an overcoat varnish layer at a contact part of the box body 10 with the lid 20 and heat-welding the sealant layer 25 with the heat seal lacquer formation layers 13, 23, 33, 43.
