<p>1361072 Applying and removing bottle caps SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ NV 16 Sept 1971 [18 Sept 1970] 43195/71 Heading B8T A machine for applying and removing gas bottle caps consists of two heads 7 and 8 mounted on a support 5 which is rotatable about axis X 2 ; the support during cap application aligns the head 7 along axis X 3 so that a cap may be picked up from a conveyer 9; the cap and head are then rotated about axis X 2 to lie along axis X 1 at which position the motor 18 is energized to twist the cap and lock it on the bottle which is held by arms 1, while the head 8 is rotated to axis X 3 to collect the next bottle cap. The heads are provided with sideways movable fingers 27 and actuating means 28 which are not included in the cap removal machine, Fig. 3 (not shown), the cap removal machine has a plunger (29) for cap disposal. Both versions of the machine have a separate motor 18 in each head which rotates a spindle in the heads and a pneumatically controlled piston having a rubber ring which encloses the cap. The conveyer 9 includes two fingers for controlling the number of caps passing along the conveyer, the caps being centred along X 3 by a V-shaped element 34, Fig. 4, (not shown).</p> |
