Novel agent comprises sporocysts of at least one type of unicellular parasite and at least one anticoagulant active agent. - ACTIVITY : Rodenticidal; anticoagulant. In tests, brown rats ( Rattus norvegicus) were treated with Sarcocystis singaporensis sporocysts, coumatetralyl or a combination of these two components. A first group of rats was treated with a suspension of 10,000 sporocysts in 0.5 ml of polyethylene glycol 300, and all rats survived. A second group was treated with coumatetralyl (6 mg/kg) using 0.06 ml of a 1% solution of the active agent in polyethylene glycol 300, and 5 out of 6 rats survived. A third group of rats was treated with 10,000 sporocysts and 6 mg/kg coumatetralyl, and all rats died. - MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given. |
