<p>1375038 Mixing apparatus PRODUITS CHIMIQUES PECHINEY-SAINT-GOBAIN 11 Oct 1971 [12 Oct 1970] 47232/71 Heading B1C [Also in Division C3] An apparatus, which may be used for a process for the preparation of a copolymerisable unsaturated polyester resin, comprises a reactor having temperature regulating means, means for creating an inert atmosphere within the reactor, agitation means, at least part of which is located in the bottom half of the reactor, to produce a turbulent zone, and means for introducing alkylene oxide into the zone of greatest turbulence. The temperature regulating means may be a coiled tube located within the reactor through which tube a cooling fluid can be caused to circulate. The alkylene oxide introducing means may incorporate at least one injector which may be arranged coaxially of the agitation means or along a generatrix of a cylinder having the agitation means as its base. The injector may be a nozzle, a sintered plate or a perforated tubular ring. The injector may comprise perforations formed in the hollow head of the agitation means, the head being provided with means to lead the alkylene oxide thereto. The coiled tube may surround the agitation means and be arranged in a generally cylindrical, frustoconical or hyperboloid form. The drawing shows a reactor 1 having a jacket 2 through which a heating or cooling fluid can be circulated. Inside the reactor is an agitation means 3, surrounded by a fixed tube 4 through which a heating or cooling fluid can be passed and means for introducing the alkylene oxide comprising at least one injector 5. The reactor is provided with means (not shown) for introducing an inert gas into it or for placing it in communication with a vacuum producing means. The Examples describe various types of temperature regulating means, agitation means and means for introducing alkylene oxide.</p> |
