The system has a unit (17) for controlling the functioning of the air inlet unit (2), the exhaust gas recycling unit (4), the turbocompressor (5) and the feed system for controlling the engine functions, these units adapted for triggering a regeneration phase of the particulate filter by combusting the particles trapped in the filter, and stopping a multiple fuel injection phase in the motor cylinders during the expansion phase. The control unit has a unit for determining the state of the particulate filter (7) for detecting a malfunction, and changing the control strategy of the engine and the organs associated with it, in order to trigger a functioning phase of reduced emission of pollutants. |
