PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decorate various originals containing characters, photographs, tables, ruled lines or frames with high operability. SOLUTION: An automatic area segmenting means segments the rectangular area of any attribute of character, photograph, table, ruled line or frame from image data inputted from an image input means and stores this segment area information in a decoration information storage means. According to the segment area information, a display means displays the input image, from which the rectangular area is segmented. An operator selects the desired rectangular area in the input image, from which the rectangular area is segmented on a display screen, while using an operating means and further instructs the kind of decoration to be applied to the selected rectangular area. Thus, the selected rectangular area information and the instructed decoration information are stored in a decoration information storage means. Afterwards, an image applied with the decoration instructed to the selected rectangular area is prepared from the selected rectangular area information, the instructed decoration information and the input image data by a decorated image preparing means, and this decorated image is outputted from an image output means. |
