Animals are constrained to pass single file where the presence of the animal is detected. A cleaning fluid is sprayed onto the animal. The animal then passes through to a holding pen connectable to a wash station. Thus, in use, animals are coated with cleaning fluid and held for a period prior to washing of the cleaning fluid at the wash station.
