PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illuminator for optical equipment capable of uniformly illuminating an entire illuminated field surface even in the case of using a low-magnification objective lens. SOLUTION: By arranging a concave lens 12 having negative refractive power between an LED 11 and a condenser lens group 13 and widening the luminous flux of illuminating light from the LED 11, uniform illuminance is obtained all over the surface of the illuminated field even in the case of using a light source excellent in directivity such as the LED 11.
