摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrifying device capable of preventing a defective image caused by uneven electrostatic charging by preventing a magnetic brush member from being locally soiled, and also, capable of forming a good image free from irregularities for a long period by stably and satisfactorily forming a magnetic brush layer on the surface of a carrying member. SOLUTION: The electrifying device is constituted of an electrostatic charging container, a magnetic particle carrier, a means for controlling the thickness of a magnetic particle layer, and a stirring member, and for electrostatically charging an image carrier by bringing the magnetic brush part of the magnetic particle into contact with the image carrier, the charger is provided with an interrupting member with a control surface for interrupting above a straight line linking between a tangent at least on the outermost circumferential surface of the stirring member and a control part as the closest part between the means for controlling the thickness of the magnetic particle layer and the magnetic particle carrier, and also, continuously narrowing a gap toward the control part with reference to the surface of the magnetic particle carrier, and the interrupting member is attached to the means for controlling the thickness of the magnetic particle layer.
