PURPOSE: An iris recognition security system using a PC camera and a user authentication method are provided to rapidly and accurately judge and authenticate a user authenticated through the Internet by recognizing and encoding an iris pattern of the user, and by storing the pattern encoded in a web server. CONSTITUTION: A user connects to a web site on the Internet(T10). The user downloads and installs a program(T12). The user inputs and registers information on the user(T14). The user acquires information on an iris pattern of the user through a PC camera(T16). The user encodes and transmits the information to a web server(T18). The information on the user and the iris pattern is decoded and stored in a database(T20). The user performs a login(T22). The program is executed(T24). The iris pattern is recognized through the PC camera(T26). The pattern recognized is encoded and transmitted to the web server(T28). The pattern is decoded. After that, the pattern decoded is compared with the information stored in the database(T30). It is checked whether the pattern is identical to the information(T32). The web server transmits the user information(T34). The information is temporarily stored and moved(T36). Relevant information is transmitted to the web site(T38).
