PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for aiding bar arrangement design for a retaining wall capable of responding to complicated design requests. SOLUTION: This aiding system comprises an initial treatment means for initially setting the optimum value storage section memorizing the minimum value of the total weight of steel bars, a selecting means for selecting economy, workability or term of work as a top priority, a first means for calculating the minimum weight of steel bars by sequentially varying the steel bar diameter based on the design method selected as stated above in a state where the steel bar interval specified by suppressing the stress generated in each cross section of the retaining wall without exceeding the allowable unit stress, an update means for updating the content of the optimum value storage section after calculating the minimum steel bar weight for each cross section of the retaining wall by the operation of the first means and then determining the sum of steel bar weight for the whole section, comparing the total weight of the steel bar with the value in the optimum value storage section and when the result is found to be smaller than the value of optimum value storage section, and means of repeating the execution of the operations of the first means and the update means for all the range of the steel bar intervals to be reviewed by varying the value of the steel bar interval.
