PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide emulsion having high sensitivity and superior in graininess, pressure characteristics, radiation fog and aging preservability and a silver halide color photographic sensitive material using the emulsion. SOLUTION: In the silver halide emulsion containing flat platy silver halide grains having two twin-crystal faces, flat platy silver halide grains, having an aspect ratio of 6 or larger and satisfying the expression 1.0<=b/a<=1.3 occupy 50% or larger of the total projected area of all silver halide grains contained in the silver halide emulsion and the coefficients of variations of grain diameter and thickness of the flat platy silver halide grains are 25% or smaller each.
