PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make performable excellent fixing without wrinkling paper P at the time of fixing on the second side of the paper P even in the case of performing consecutive double-sided image formation in an image fixing device equipped with a heating roll 10, and an endless belt 20 disposed to come into press-contact with the roll 10 and forming a fixing nip N through which the paper P to which an unfixed toner image T adheres is made to pass between the roll 10 and the belt 20 and a pressurizing body consisting of a pressure pad 30. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a cooling fan device 50 (nip pressure fluctuation restraining means) so as to directly cool the endless belt 20 and indirectly cool the paper non-passing parts 30a and 30b where the paper P does not pass out of the pressure pad 30 in order to restrain the fluctuation of the nip pressure caused by abnormal temperature rise in the paper non- passing parts 30a and 30b by cooling action and heat transferring and insulating action.
