PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an optical connector capable of maintaining high reliability. SOLUTION: The socket is provided with a housing part 205 having an inserting hole part 220 into which a plug 100 W or the like is inserted, a shutter part 210 which is attached by hinge structure to the inlet side of the inserting hole part 220 in order to close the inserting hole part 220 and which is opened only toward the inside of the inserting hole part 220, and an elastic body part energizing the shutter part 210 toward the inlet side or the like. A locking recessed part 218 with which the locking pawl part 162W of the plug 100 W is engaged when the plug 100 W is inserted into the inserting hole part 220 is provided in the front of the shutter part 210.
